I COULD GET THIS IDEA COPYRIGHTED

Last night could have been a drinking game like no other, available right there on TV. The rules are very simple: you have to drink every time the Congress and “distinguished guests” clap. And continue drinking until the clapping subsides. Since there were 54 interruptions for applause during the speech, and some of those interruptions lasted a lot longer than others, it wouldn’t have taken very long to get drunk. I could have hosted a party last night if I’d known. Maybe someone with a VCR happened to record the speech to peruse at a later date.

At least the drinking would have helped make the speech watchable.

  1. Admittedly I didn’t even watch the speech (bits and pieces but not a lot). From recent years though, that seems to be something that everyone talks about. CRAZY! :)

  2. I watched it. I wasn’t impressed. I, too, would have been drunk rather quickly. The other good drinking game for the night – take a drink every time Ted Kennedy shakes his head in disgust.

  3. Dana—you didn’t miss much. :)

Chris Cactus—oh my god, I know! I thought that was so funny how the cameras kept cutting to Kennedy whenever he didn’t join in the clapping. He had such a sour, “I-want-to-be-anywhere-but-here” look on his face.

  4. I only watched a few minutes of it (fell asleep literally), but you probably could have also taken a drink everytime he got that insipid little smirk on his face. You know the one that makes me want to nail his scrotum to tree stump. (ewwwww, I just got a mental image)
