Brought to you a day early, just because I felt like it.
1) I purchased my plane tickets for the BlogHer conference next month in Chicago. I said back in March that I was going, and last month I registered for it online. I put off buying the plane tickets because I wasn’t sure which days I wanted to leave and come back, but now the decision has been made: I’ll be gone from Thurs, July 26 (the day before the conference starts) until Sun, July 29th. And both of the flights between Reagan and O’Hare are direct, which means no layovers.
2) Being cryptic: I found out yesterday there’s somewhere I have to go tomorrow morning. Then, later the same day, I discovered two of my friends also have somewhere they need to be that same morning — and it’s the same circumstance for all three of us, but three different unrelated locations. (No, I can’t say any more about it just yet. Maybe later. But I had to mention the coincidence.)
3) Due to people working different schedules at my workplace, I was given an early birthday celebration yesterday. It was unexpected — I was on the phone in my office when I heard a tap on the door. My friend J.R. knows that I don’t like being the center of attention, so she brought just one other woman with her. J.R. is a vegan, so she made a vegan cheesecake (muy delicioso) and gave me a bag of Starbucks coffee. Very sweet of her, and much appreciated. It certainly brightened my day.
4) Speaking of my birthday, I’ll be in Richmond on Saturday and Sunday. I have plans for both days, and I’m excited about being able to hang out with some friends I haven’t seen in a while. I’ve been checking the weather report for Saturday every few days — the afternoon plans involve being outside — and so far it’s changed from thunderstorms, to scattered showers — and now it just says cloudy. I’m hoping it stays that way. Keep your fingers crossed!
