(BELATED) RANDOM FRIDAY, VER. 11

1) I drove to Richmond early Friday afternoon to help my sister Elissa celebrate her 29th birthday. She and I went downtown early, about 6pm, and stopped at this bar/restaurant called Bank. (The name comes from the fact that it’s a big, old, renovated…bank.) It’s pretty fancy, which became even more apparent once I’d picked up a tab that included a number of $10 martinis. For a minute there I thought I was back in L.A.

2) My new job starts tomorrow morning, and I’ve been trying to get up earlier the past few days so that it would be easier for me to get used to a different work schedule. I used to get up at 5am when I was commuting to work in California, but it’s been over a year since I’ve had to get up so early and immediately be active.

I haven’t been getting up late (I usually don’t get to sleep until at least 1am, so a normal rising time for me is around 8am), but I’ve been accustomed to a more leisurely pace — make coffee, get online, take a shower, maybe run some errands, then go to work. I got up at 6:30 this morning and tomorrow, since I want to go to the gym before work, I’ll probably get up around 5:45. I’m sure I’ll get used to it soon, but the first week will take some adjustment. Once I get used to waking up early it should be easier for me to fall asleep at a decent time, too.

3) I wanted to start the upcoming week with as few things to take care of as possible, so I went grocery shopping this morning, then to Wal-Mart this afternoon, cleaned the bathroom, and straightened the apartment. I never did get a chance to call a friend that I wanted to talk to though. There always ends up being something I’m not able to get to.

  3. I had not heard of Bank, but it sounds interesting. Expensive, but interesting!

Hope your first day at your new job went well! The nice thing about getting up that early these days is that the sun is almost up already. I hate getting up that early in the winter, when it’s still completely dark outside.

  4. Well, I know you can’t really tell us about *all* the details of your training to become a professional assassin/ballet dancer, but surely you can let slip some of the minor details? Dances with knives? Poison plie? Really, how’s it going?

  5. Hope your first day went well!! And seriously… much respect for planning that gym trip on a new schedule. I’d just roll over and hit snooze.
