Tomorrow morning I’m flying to Chicago for the BlogHer conference, and I’ll be gone until Sunday night. I’ll be staying with my friend Nate while I’m there — he’s given me directions to take the train from the airport to rendezvous with him, and then we’ll hang out for a few hours before I’m due to meet the other BlogHer contributing editors for a reception that evening.
Friday and Saturday are the official conference days. I’m nervous, anticipatory, and excited all at the same time. There are some bloggers who I know are going and look forward to meeting, and there will probably be others I’ve read or heard about who I’ll be surprised to see. I’m expecting some of the exchanges to be like meeting old friends, while others will be awkward. But I know I’m going to have fun.
My laptop is a few years old and doesn’t have a wireless card, so I won’t be bringing it with me. (A blogger without a portable computer? Say it isn’t so!) But Nate says he has an extra laptop I can borrow while I’m staying at his place, so if I get a few minutes to update before Sunday, I shall do so.
If you’re sad that you’re not going to BlogHer, enter the official “I’m NOT going to BlogHer: Unauthorized Pity Party and Contest,” hosted by Janet. She explains:
Send me your most pitiful reason for not being able to attend BlogHer. Or, if you don’t really have one, send me the most pitiful thing you are going to be doing next week while everyone else is at the conference. Pitiful is good. Funny is better. Accompanied by photos is the best.
Today is the final day for submissions, so think fast if you want to win the Coach purse she’s offering to the winner.
(On an unrelated note, Janet just posted about a trip she and her husband made to the grocery store. I thought I was guilty of eating a lot of the same things, but I think these two have me beat. Check it out.)
