BLOGHER 2007

1) I arrived at the airport two hours early last Thursday, just in case it was busy, and…it wasn’t. I passed through security in less than ten minutes. Then my flight was delayed an additional two hours due to bad weather in Chicago, so I was at the airport for four hours overall. I entertained myself by reading magazines and sending text messages.

2) The conference was a combination of interesting, funny, informative, mundane, and exciting. It was held at Chicago’s Navy Pier, and the conference center is right on the water with a great view of the surrounding area.

3) It was great getting to meet certain bloggers that I’ve been reading for a while but never met in person. I thought there would be more bloggers in attendance that I would have heard of than turned out to be the case, but this conference was still the largest of the three so far — and looking at the total number of attendees, the largest blogging conference ever.

4) A lot of ladies would come right up to me and introduce themselves; it didn’t matter if I was standing, walking, or sitting down at a table, it was inevitable that someone would approach me and speak. Sometimes it was just for conversation, sometimes because they recgonized my photo from BlogHer. The best part was even though I didn’t know many of them beforehand, I was able to meet many talented and diverse ladies. It was also humbling a lot of times, hearing about so many successful online endeavors, both on a personal basis and with companies these women have started, or how they’re using technology to make the world a better place.

5) They fed us breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, and drinks/hors d’oeuvres both Friday and Saturday. Yummy.

6) Thanks to everyone who left a question on the pre-BlogHer post. It’s not too late, so feel free to keep add more if you haven’t left one yet. I’m going to be answering some/all of them this week, depending on how long they take me to get through.

Chicago was fun, but it’s also very nice to be back.

  1. I am glad you enjoyed your time there, and it is nice reading what people think about that conference. Look like you’re becoming a star, he ;-)
Will you be telling us more on the inspiring things you heard there? I am curious.

  2. Glad to hear that you enjoyed Chicago.

Why is it that whenever you leave yourself extra time the airport is quiet and when you decide to cut it close, it is crazy busy? I always enjoy the people watching and magazine flipping at the airport though!

  4. I thought about going but decided that I like being a lone wolf blogger instead! Maybe next year I’ll get it in gear and make a real effort to get there. I’m glad that you had a good time. It makes me want to go just to see what it’s all about.

  5. Clearly the best part of BlogHer was seeing me and my crazy dog with his stuffed hamburger fetish, just admit it! :)
