I went through some withdrawal symptoms, when I started just eating less crap back in 2006, never mind going raw! Happy to say that my current detox is going well, no withdrawal symptoms, cravings are relatively under control (okay, I did a little sneaking yesterday), and already feeling and looking better at Day 5 of 21.

You have to be really dedicated to do something as intense as going raw. My girl friend's sister and her husband are raw foodies, and they have 8 kids (who don't eat raw)... it's tough enough on one's own, imagine doing it with 8 kids?!

I followed a completely raw diet for 30 days in November of 2006. I did not have any real withdrawl symptoms except for missing junk food. I felt very energetic after the first week but the diet was too socially isolating. It was a great transition into a mostly vegetarian diet.

30 day changes is a good window... long enough to make you have to make a real change, but not too much as to seem overwhelming or super daunting.

That being said, I don't think there's *any way* I could switch to eating raw foods for 30 days. So much socially hinges on eating... I think I'd go nuts. More power to you if you opt to change that day into thirty!

Oh, I'm definitely checking out those links about the raw food diet. Actually, eating raw food for TWO days is on my 101 list.

I think raw foods for 30 days would be TREMENDOUSLY hard. I can't even imagine. Buy I like the idea of other 30 day challenges

Does raw equal cold? Is that a stupid question? I just prefer hot food over cold so much, even in warm weather.

I have to admit I was a bit skeptical reading about his "withdrawal symptoms" during the first few days of the raw trial (I don't doubt that he had the symptoms, but rather his attribution of them to withdrawal).

At any rate, maybe I should endeavor to complete a day of raw eating, too (just for fun, really, and maybe a little to vindicate my failed attempt all those years ago). Maybe we should be raw-for-a-day buddies. :)

Hum, although I can eat raw food like raw fish for example, I think we need to be cautious about that because of bacteria salmonella and that kind of funny things you can catch from uncooked food. (got salmonella once and trust me, you don't want that to happen to you)
