Three Random Things About Zan

1) I don’t react when I see a celebrity.

I saw Stephen Baldwin at National Airport when I was waiting for my flight to Tampa last week. When I sat down in the waiting area with some food, I noticed someone had left their bags in the seat across from me but I didn’t think anything of it. A guy started to sit down, so I glanced up, and it was Stephen Baldwin. He had food, too. So we were sitting there for at least fifteen minutes, with our knees almost touching because the chairs face each other and there’s not a lot of leg room. What did I do? I ignored him and pretended I didn’t have any idea who he was (while busily texting my friends and posting an update to my twitter blog, of course).

2) Apparently my new hobby is scopin’ for hotties.

My roommate says I have spring fever. Example: I was out last Saturday night with her and our friend Mary. When we were on our way back to the car, Mary decided she wanted to walk down a street that runs parallel to King St (the main artery through Old Town Alexandria) because there was a house she wanted to find that she hadn’t seen in a while.

My response: “But if we don’t walk down King Street, we won’t see any hotties!”

After this outburst, of course I consented to not walking down King St – especially once I acknowledged that, yes, the only thing I’d do if I saw a hottie would be to smile and keep going.

3) I won’t date a guy who smokes.

There was someone eyeing me last weekend in a bar, but when he pulled out a cigarette I stopped looking his way. Yuck.

  1. Ooh that is a fun celebrity sighting. I had the biggest crush on Stephen Baldwin when he was on the show Young Riders (we actually had a television when that show was on *laugh*)!

  2. I’ve never had a crush on him, but I must admit he looks better in person than on-screen. Very muscular (and also has a nice butt).

  3. I peed next to Jack Nicholson once. (we were in the restroom, obviously. I’m not the kind of person who just whips it out and starts peeing next to celebrities on the street…as far as you know).

Surprised that you even know the lesser Baldwins names/faces. It’s like memorizing the names of all the unknown Presidents.

  5. Thanks for playing along.

I scope for hotties too, then do nothing about it, but being married and all, I guess I have a good excuse. :)

  6. I saw Ben Affleck at Nora a few weeks ago, and I did the same thing. Just pretended like nothing was happening. And I also saw Harrison Ford at the Four Seasons in Georgetown last fall. In both cases, I kind of wish I’d been bold enough to get a picture, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it…

  7. ah, smoking is a big no-no for me too!

But if I met George C. on the street I have no idea how I would react!

  9. especially once I acknowledged that, yes, the only thing I’d do if I saw a hottie would be to smile and keep going.

So may I humbly suggest something to add to “101 things”? It’ll be a hard one for you: Ask a man out on a first date.

I can’t speak for all men, but I can say that I find it very appealing, and not threatening at all, to be asked. Maybe the guy you’d pick would feel the same.

  10. Since I wasn’t really impressed with his latest performance on Celebrity Apprentice, I probably would not have said anything either. :)

  11. Isn’t Stephen the one who looks stoned and stupid at the same time?

I never know if celebs want to be bothered or not. Not sure which is more upsetting to them–listening to fawning or being ignored.

  12. YOURE THE ONE WHO IS CUTE.

  13. While I TRY to pretend I don’t notice celebrities I’m totally obvious. I keep sneaking glances and fool no one. (We lived in the West Village in Manhattan for a while, so I had plenty of opportunities to be a total doof).

  14. Yeah but Stephen Baldwin? What if you were knee-to-knee with a real celeb?

  15. Someone who smokes is not going to be into your lifestyle of health and fitness anyways.

Dominic and I both smoked for years but we both had quit by the time we met. Though he chews nicotine gum.

  16. 3) I won’t date a guy who smokes.

Good for you! I have a hard time being friends w/people who smoke! I only dated one guy who smoked, but he was at least polite enough to never do it around me.

    Ick, though.

  17. You, scopin’ for hotties! Be ware guys, the predator is on the loose :)

    Yuck guys who smoke!

And I don’t really react when I see a celebrety either. Though I try to make a photo. With the exception of Josh Holloway, we just asked him if he was OK with taking his picture with us. Found a hotty right there :)
