		<description>I&#039;ve been doing krav for 6 months pretty regularly. I&#039;ve never had to push myself this hard physically. I love it now, and I just passed my first belt test. Definitely staying for the next level.</description>

Do not take any martial art for &#039;self defense&#039;.  It&#039;s not worth the time, or the effort.  It provides a false sense of confidence.  In the real world no amount of training will help you against a knife/gun/multiple people or someone who has 75lbs on you.  

Running and mace/gun are the best street defense.</description>

		<description>I don&#039;t know why the instructor didn&#039;t stop you from punching the bag without wraps/gloves.  That doesn&#039;t reflect very good on them. You should&#039;ve been shadowboxing instead.  

Any physical activity that takes you out of your element and routine will feel like a great work out.  This is the best way to gain &#039;usable&#039; strength.  Take a look at crossfit.com

This is also why machines aided movements are far inferior to free weights.  Free weights make sure that you use your whole body/tendons/nerves for a given movement and all the components of your body grow stronger as a result, instead of having a machine isolate a few muscles.  

If you have not tried it, do some squats with no machine/just free weight.  Take it slow and build up weight very gradually.  Have someone observe your form to make sure you are not huring yourself.  I think you will like it if you give it a try...

I used to do Muai Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and it&#039;s a lot different than weight training or cardio.  No matter how good you are it seems to be more exhausthing than anything I have ever done.
