High-Protein Dessert

For my third submission to the Whip It Up challenge, I decided to adapt Fitarella’s recipe for High Protein “Cheesecake”. I didn’t use cheesecake-flavored pudding mix like she did, so I renamed mine “High-Protein Dessert.” (The tub of protein powder I’m using right now is banana-flavored, so the dessert I made tasted like banana and vanilla — but you could play around with the flavors and make it however you wanted. There are chocolate and strawberry-flavored protein powders, too.)

This recipe was very simple. I feel like I’m still recuperating and catching up from being at BlogHer ‘08 last week, so I promise to make up for this easy recipe by preparing something more difficult next week.

This dessert is ideal for people like myself who enjoy eating high-protein foods — more filling, less calories. It’s not much to look at (especially in a boring white bowl), but I thought it tasted good and I would definitely make it again.

High Protein Dessert

High-Protein Dessert

3/4 cup of fat free cottage cheese

1/2 scoop of protein powder (vanilla flavor was recommended, but I used banana)

1 tbsp sugar free instant pudding mix (cheesecake or vanilla flavor — I used vanilla)

4-5 tbsp of fat free milk or water (I used soymilk)

Combine all the ingredients in a food processor or blender and mix for about 1 minute until smooth. Top with sliced almonds, strawberries, or nothing at all (I didn’t use any extra toppings). Chill for 20 minutes.

  2. Interesting…I find it hard to find protein deserts (I usually eat the special K protein bars and drinks) Yes, I am all about pre-packaged stuff! :(

  6. I’m intriqued and I always end up stuck with some cottage cheese at the end of a week because I have gotten too bored with the taste. This seems like a great way to work it into something much more tasty!!

  10. Hmm… I will have to try when I get home and have a real kitchen again.
Hows this sound for breakfast? .5cup dry oatmeal cooked per directions, add .5 cup (or more) of cottage cheese, then add cinnamon (a spice we should all have more of according to survey) and sugar substitute (Splenda for me). Mix up and eat. Very much not much to look at but quite tasty.
