1) I survived
Strip Aerobics was not at all nerve-wracking. The instructor was awesome, the class was small (six students), and it was a really good workout. I’ll have a more detailed account posted early next week (I’ll be writing about it for my next BlogHer fitness post).
2) Healing
My friend Chris is doing much better after his car accident. Many thanks to everyone who took the time to get in touch with me and ask about his status. He’s back home but will be out of work for about a month while he heals (thank goodness for having a good job and good health insurance). Chris sent me a photo of his face via cell phone a few days ago, but he specifically stated that it was not to be posted online. (How well he knows me!)
3) Unpatriotic?
I’ve read some updates online, but other than watching a few minutes of swimming a few days ago I have not seen ANY of the Olympics. It’s not that I dislike the Olympics — as I’ve said, I think the athletes are awesome. I just don’t watch a lot of TV, so it’s going against my nature to look up when the interesting sports are happening and making sure I’m in front of the screen at that particular time.
4) Stinky car
When someone I know mentioned vodka recently, it reminded me of an experience that happened quite a few years ago. I was traveling with a friend in her car — luckily it was old and kind of beat-up — and for some reason I had a large plastic cup filled with vodka and orange juice resting between my legs as she was driving. (I don’t remember if this was before or after I turned 21, but I’m pretty sure it was before. Scandalous!)
We were only driving a short distance (which is why, I imagine, I felt like it was okay to ride around with a mixed drink). When we pulled into our friend’s parking lot, she ended up hitting and running up on one of the curbs. (She also uprooted and knocked over a small wooden sign that was stuck in the grass beside the curb, but we won’t talk about THAT.)
The jolt caused my drink to tumble over, spilling the vodka all over the carpeted floorboard. This happened in the middle of summer, so for weeks afterward her car reeked of vodka. Gross!
(After all these years, it has just occurred to me that I never offered to help her clean up the mess. I’m lucky she’s still friends with me.)
Happy weekend, everyone!

Very glad to hear about Chris!
I’m glad the class wasn’t intimidating.
Have a good weekend!
That workout kicked my ass! I’m hobbling around like an old lady today. All those squats? Seriously!
When I was a freshman in college I went to visit my friend at UVA and put a ton of booze in the back of her car. We had a box of wine in there too and somehow it exploded, leaving her car to reek of that smell to this day. We tried to clean it up, but it still has a little hint of the smell.
Cannot wait to see your report…..it should be very interesting. I am so glad your friend is doing better…how funny he knows you so well ha! And I have also done something similar to my best friend of over 20 years…..she was driving to a party and we had this really big cooler filled with alcohol (of course) and she hit some sort of bump in the road and needless to say everything inside of the cooler fell out and some of it broke right on the seat. It took months to get the smell out luckily her parents never got in the car because we were only 17 at the time. But we are still friends and some days I ask myself how she can be so forgiving!
