I found these “Have you ever?” questions on Fishing Around — and she found them on Sunday Stealing. I deleted some of the questions that were obvious and/or boring (such as: “Have you ever been on a plane? Caught a snowflake on your tongue?”).
If anyone has an interesting “Have you ever?”-type question for me, leave it in the comments. I don’t promise to answer if I consider the answer to be Too Much Information, but I’ll do my best.
Have you ever…
1. gone on a blind date?
I’ve never met someone for a date without seeing a photo first, but several people have looked different from what I expected (not in a good way).
2. skipped school?
I skipped school when I was a senior in high school — I went on a short road trip with a few girlfriends — but it was technically “Senior Skip Day.” So, yeah, that probably doesn’t count. We weren’t supposed to skip school that day, but a lot of people did.
3. watched someone die?
Yes. In 2002, I was in the room when my maternal grandfather was taken off a breathing machine in a hospital in San Bernardino, Ca.
4. been on the opposite side of your country?
I lived on the opposite coast for a year (summer ‘05 to summer ‘06) and have visited multiple times.
5. swam in the ocean?
I’ve been in the ocean, but seeing as how I can’t swim, I haven’t actually swam in the ocean.
6. had your booze taken away by the cops?
Not yet…but it might be a fun way to meet someone! But only if they’re hot. Maybe I’ll try that tonight — I’ll sit outside with a big ‘ol bottle of rum in my lap. If the cop isn’t hot, then I’ll hide it when he comes around. If he is hot, I’ll stand up and wave it all about (”Hey, lookie here what I have!”).
7. lettered in high school sport?
I didn’t play sports in high school. I was home-schooled for most of my K-12 education, so I only went to public high school for my junior and senior year.
8. played cops and robbers?
Is this a game with specific rules and such? In that case, no. I grew up with two sisters that were close to my age — our brothers are younger — so we played with Barbies or made mud-cakes outside.
9. sung karaoke?
I seem to remember singing karaoke with a group of girl friends when I was in my early 20s. Never by myself, though (and I plan to keep it that way).
10. paid for a meal with coins only?
When I was a freshman in college, age 17, I used to go to Wendy’s all the time and buy food from their dollar menu. ($1 for a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger; $1 for large fries. Are they still so cheap? This was over ten years ago.) So I’m sure at some point, with such a cheap meal, I must have paid with coins.
11. made prank phone calls?
I made several calls to boys when I was in high school. There was always a friend there egging me on.
12. laughed until some sort of beverage came out of your nose?
Ew! No.
13. written a letter to Santa Claus?
My siblings and I weren’t raised to believe in Santa Claus. I told this to someone not long ago and they were quite shocked. I never felt like I was missing out, though — I still got presents.
14. watched the sunrise with someone you care about?
Have I sat in a certain location with someone I care about for the sole purpose of waiting for the sun to come up? No.
15. been kissed under the mistletoe?
Cheesy!
16. ever been arrested?
Not yet. But see #6, the one about me sitting outside with booze. I may be arrested yet!
17. gone ice skating?
Once. I was a senior in high school, and I went to a rink in Charlottesville, Va. with some friends. I fell on my butt at one point, but I remember it was fun because I slid about 10 feet. Like a Slip ‘n Slide!
18. been skinny dipping outdoors?
Not yet. But I’m not entirely opposed to it, depending on the situation.
19. been on TV?
Not that I know of. Maybe one day. I should apply for a reality TV show or something…ha!

Ha…you can always use #18 on a cute cop to get arrested…(wink wink) I always like the have you ever questions, it’s interesting to see how people answer, funny how as you get older, you look back and say “yeah I did that when I was 20ish” but never recently. Is it because we are fuddy duddies when we get older or because we’ve already done it all?

20. OK, maybe you haven’t “laughed until some sort of beverage came out of your nose?”… but have you “laughed until some sort of food came out of your nose?”
Oreo cookies, 1995.
21. Have you ever been shit on by a bird? (A good luck sign in some cultures)
Yes, 1988, 1993, 1994, 2002.
6 and 16: Yes, indeed, be careful. I don’t know what the rules are down your way….
I was surprised how few of these Ive done…Ive got a whole lot more living to go I guess.
cant wait to see what I get arrested for (wink)!
I think your next fitness class to try should be a swimming class
I bet your community pool has one!
Ooh I like this! So interesting.
I’m such a loser- I hated skipping class. If I ever did I’d spend the whole time being anxious about what I was missing out on:)
Some yes some no….very interesting!
Ha! Those were really funny. I say go for it with the bottle of rum and waiting for a hot cop to drive by! Totally worth the citation (if you get his number…)
I wasn’t raised to believe in Santa Claus either, so it is not ALL that strange!
AWESOME!! Aahh… “senior skip day” The first & last time I deliberately skipped school! I was a dork.
(big surprise!)
Again, with the men in uniform
I’m going to do this for my blog too.
Hehehehehe… I would totally do number six as well. That actually sounds like a good idea.
Just don’t try and swim after drinking booze outside. Friendly advice.
just don’t try and combine your skinny dipping venture with getting arrested or having a drink taken away by the cops, haha.
kel, probably cause we were dumbas*es in our twenties and now we are capable of thinking about consequence. lol. true though.
