Random Friday, Ver. 78

1) Lazy Friday

My workplace wasn’t closed on Christmas Eve, but we are closed today, which is nice. I’m still at my mom’s house in Richmond. I’ll have my brother Isaac with me when I drive back to Alexandria, but there’s a show he wants to attend tonight so I’m hanging around until that’s over. It’s been a productive day, though — I finished writing a post and doing some research that was due in the next few days, so I’ll have time to entertain my brother this weekend without having to worry about other distractions.

2) In other news…

…my younger sister, Angela, and her boyfriend John are now officially engaged — I’ve heard there’s to be a wedding next September. I love my sis and I think John is fantastic (and I’m not just saying that because he reads my blog). I’m very happy for them.

Here they are at dad’s house yesterday. Angela is wearing both the engagement ring and the accompanying diamond band — it’s just because she thinks they look good together and not because the wedding has taken place early. Also, she’s currently wearing the rings on her right hand because they’re slightly too large to fit on her left. I imagine that issue will be taken care of very soon, since everyone she was showing the ring to was asking her why they were on the wrong hand.

3) Yummy stuff!

My mouth started watering when I saw the recipe for Pumpkin Bread Pudding on Lemmonex’s blog a few weeks ago, and I knew immediately that I wanted to make it for Christmas dinner. (Along with my usual cupcake-contribution, of course. In fact, my roommate gave me a book with 500 cupcake recipes for Christmas, so I imagine there were be even more cupcake-variety in my future.)

The Pumpkin Bread Pudding was a huge hit, and it was very easy to make. (The only problem was wondering where I might find challah bread, but I had to go to Trader Joe’s anyway and ended up locating it there in the bakery section.) I didn’t take a photo of the finished result, but it came out looking exactly like the example on Lemmonex’s site.

4) And finally…

I’ve uploaded a number of photos to my Christmas set at Flickr. Check them out. Here’s one of my favorites, of Isaac and me:
