I'm a regular reader who has never commented. But I feel obliged to chime in about the "tingling sensation."

What you are feeling sounds like a problem with your cervical spine (the upper spine), which acts as a passageway for the nerves that control your fingers and toes.

It could be a herniated disc, which will usually repair itself, or something more troublesome. Since you once said you had a history of spine troubles (if I remember right) I would get this checked asap. They can do an MRI and see immediately what this is.

From experience, once you get around 35, this stuff can be debilitating, so it's better to nip it in the bud. Unless you have a very strong resolve, tingling can drive you crazy. Good luck.

"I’ve also been interested in having my lung capacity checked, as I think I’ve been having more trouble taking deep breaths/getting air in my lungs when I’m exercising/walking than I should. (I’ve been finding it difficult/impossible to jog for more than a few minutes at a time. And even when I’m just walking fast, I’ll often have to pause and purposefully take a deep belly-breath so I can continue.) Weird, huh?"

Were you a runner previously? If not, the key may be to learn how to breathe. I wasn't a runner before I went to my training academy but I learned from doing cadence to control my breathing. Maybe you ought to download some military running cadences that you can at least mouth along to if not sing so you can learn control. I recorded some and put them on my ipod and they seem to do the trick.

I know there are eleventy bajillion different reasons for tinglyness in the limbs, but the primary reason I've experienced it before was a b-12 deficiency (pernicious anemia). However, like you, I skew toward the low end of the blood pressure spectrum, and doctors always tell me to get checked out ASAP if I start feeling numbness or tinglyness in my limbs. It could be something as simple as low blood pressure or a vitamin deficiency. Good luck!

When's the last time you had your iron checked? I have chronically low blood pressure too (I average 80/60) and other than the dizziness I haven't had those other symptoms. I have however been anemic and what you are describing TOTALLY sounds like low iron! Get thee to a clinic, girl;)

Wow, this may be really inappropriate but I'm going to say it anyways... your friend Tripp is a good looking guy. That is not me trying to hit on him through your blog, promise. More of a general acknowledgement..

My roommate is trying... tried to grow Basil. I did too. If we ever have to plant and grow our own food, I'm gonna need some major tutoring.
