1) Resting
I haven’t been doing very much this week after work. The BlogHer conference last week was a whirlwind, as usual, and since it also involved quite a bit of drinking and food-indulgence on my part, I really needed to chill out for a few days — especially since I have something planned almost every day after work next week.
And then, after all those fun-filled days, I’ll be leaving next Saturday (8/8) for my week-long trip to Montana and Idaho. (Yaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy!)
I did mention that already, right? I can’t remember. I know I put it on Twitter and Facebook. Just in case I didn’t: I’m flying to Missoula, Montana on 8/8. My aunt (the one I used to live with in California) is picking me up from there and taking me back to her current home in Idaho for a few days. Then we’re driving back to Montana to visit a few national parks. I’ll return to Missoula and fly home on the following Saturday, 8/15.
I’ve never been to that area of the country, so I’m really looking forward to it!
2) Speaking of Twitter…
Last night I twittered that I was thinking about going out with a guy to “appease my boredom.” (This would be the man, D-, that I mentioned in a previous post. The one who’s, you know, nice. And we’ve been out a number of times in the past few months. But I never get the feeling that he’s interested in getting to know me more than just superficially.)
So yes, I know that I shouldn’t go out with him again, and you guys told me that in the comments. It was just the boredom talking! But then, a local blogger/Twitterer (who I’ve never met in person) sent me a message and asked if he could buy me dinner instead. Since I already thought he was a good-looking guy, I responded, “Why, yes, I would like that.”
We’re getting together next week, which means I’ll now have to tell people that I actually went on a date with someone I met through Twitter. Which seems a little strange, but I guess it’s not any more strange than meeting someone through Match.com. Or through their blog. Or in a bar. Or through a friend. I mean, why not?
3) Photos
Part of my BlogHer experience last week involved a horse-drawn carriage ride and dinner at a fancy restaurant (The Signature Room) on the 95th floor of the John Hancock building. (Courtesy of these lovely people.) Here are a few photos that were taken by their official event photographer. The entire set can be viewed on Flickr.
We took pics of our carriage before we climbed in.
Here’s my group, all settled in and ready to ride off through the streets of Chicago (Kay, Liz, Siel, me, and Average Jane). Gwen Bell rode with us, too, but she hadn’t arrived yet.
When I got to the restaurant, I had to take a photo of the view. I didn’t realize this pic had been taken of me until later, but I really like it. (I have my phone in one hand, and my favorite alcoholic drink, rum and diet, in the other.)
Also, I promise that I’m not leg-less in this photo. As you can see in the first photo above, there’s a black border on the bottom of this dress. So no, it’s not some weird Photoshop thing going on.
Happy weekend, everyone!

You totally look like you’re levitating in the last photo. Looks pretty awesome, actually.
Zan – going out on a twitter date – I love it! But I feel like it needs a name, like tweetdate, or twate, or…those are just horrible. Surely there is a name for this though?
Janet: I’m not sure about a specific name for it, but apparently other people have had this same idea:

Hope you can update while you are on your trip. I always wanted to tour that area myself. Seems like such a beautilful area. Although I dont harbor fantasies of cowboys. ;-)
Missoula, Montana is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, have fun
Love the dress, Zan.
Also, there isn’t a thing wrong with dating a guy you met on Twitter. I did and it was fun while it lasted.
honestly I am surprised people are going out with others whom they met via twitter..well it certainly is something which is very new.
Aw, love the photos.
So funny about going out with someone you met on Twitter! I recently went on a date with a guy that I met randomly on the street on my way to work. Gotta love randoms.
I love random, candid photos of me that actually turn out nice. (These are RARE.)
Love that last one of ya!
