Something quite momentous occurred on January 5th:
It wasn’t a complete surprise (I didn’t know when the proposal would happen but I did know it was forthcoming). For one thing, we’ve talked about getting married in 2013 and secondly, I went with Paul to look at rings a few months ago. I secretly think he enjoyed watching me squirm with impatience, but he insisted he was just waiting for the right time.
After the proposal happened, we went on a walk to the Old Post Office Pavilion and rode the elevator to the clock tower to look out on sweeping views of the city. Neither of us had been there before (and it’s free!), so it was a lot of fun.
We celebrated that night with a bottle of nice champagne I’ve had in the fridge for a while. I’m glad I saved it for a special occasion!
I’m super excited to be engaged to Paul. And I love my ring — I’ve been looking at it all the time. I haven’t worn any rings on a regular basis in quite some time so the addition is even more noticeable.
I’m a lucky lady.
